STEPHANIE DAVIS, EDITOR OF “SKIRT” MAGAZINE

ATLANTA (March 5, 2007) – Got a passion for fashion? English Design Laboratory (EDL) is currently accepting applications for its annual “A Cut Above” Scholarship, which awards $1,000 to a junior or senior high school student in Georgia planning to major in fashion design. Two of the country’s hippest fashion designers, Michael Hecht of Project e and Amy Tan of Amy Tangerine, join Skirt Magazine’s Stephanie Davis and EDL founder Karron English in judging this year’s competition.

“I’ve always wanted to do something like this and am very excited to see the entries,” said English. “I’m constantly amazed at the vast array of talent I’ve encountered since opening English Design Lab in 2004. No doubt, our judges will have their work cut out for them.”

Application deliverables for “A Cut Above” Scholarship include a theme board, fashion illustrations, sewn outfit, essay and oral interview, all based on two fashion fads – “Spirit” and “Superficial” – inspired by the world-renowned WGSN trend site. Deadline is April 16, 2007.
